Munnar actually has more than one Neelakurinji population, each on its own 12-year cycle. The population inside Eravikulam National Park bloomed in 2018 and is next expected in 2030. A separate population around Chokramudi and the Mattupetty-Korandakkad hills last bloomed in 2014 — making 2026 its year. This is the bloom currently drawing visitors to Munnar right now.
3 Neelakurinji Trekking Spots Near Munnar

1. Chokramudi Hills
The main, most active bloom site this season, near Gap Road. Purely a trekking activity across rocky, high-altitude terrain.
Local entry charge: approx. ₹200 per head
2. Korandakkad, near High Range School (Mattupetty)
A roughly 2 km trek near the High Range School in Korandakkad, on hillside owned by a private tea company.
Entry requires permission from the plantation company — our guide handles this on the day.
3. Chinnakanal Vilakku (60 Acre)
A quieter, private 60-acre spot known mostly to locals — far fewer visitors than Chokramudi. Since it's not a marked tourist spot, a local guide is strongly recommended.
No entry charge currently.
